* General Logistics Coordination for East Coast CRNR team both leading up to and during the exercise.
* Set up Cisco Aironet Wireless Network system for uplink from refugee camp to CMOC.
* Work with Roman to set up fiber/ethernet media converter hub in NPAC to establish access to Internet 2 services.
* Record, Digitize, and Compress Video of Events for upload to web/crnr.
* Webmaster for event documentation, and Strong Angel page on Mindtel site.

why/contributions:

* General knowledge of ALL tech that will be present or displayed, network, wearable...
* Can integrate other tech that we encounter into our systems. In right environment, can integrate outside tech on the spot.
* Can troubleshoot all tech, network, wearables, etc.
* Already developed proof of concept prototypes that demonstrate technologies that are needed in strong angel realization story (nurse running around saving people in refugee camp).
* Can/Will/Want to live in conditions and surroundings to design implementations for cyberization..
* With realtime experience, current prototype development would be greatly enhanced. This is why I want to go, and what I want to really contribute in. Making the current way of doing things evolve using tech. I'd also like to focus on the individual, and how they access the global amounts of data.. Check the site above for more info on that.

Equipment:

* Components of created wearables system..

1. 2-3 VR headsets and needed accessories (batteries, cable, etc) for each.
2. X10 units, and needed accessories (batteries, cable, etc) for each.
3. Black and white camera for Night vision, or Night vision capable camcorder.
4. FM broadcaster circuit. (I built one)
5. Laptop with wireless internet.

How to get stuff there: Wearable equipment is small enough to be placed in luggage/carry ons, or it could be shipped with the other equipment.

Why:
I would like to attend the Strong Angel exercise for two specific reasons:
- It is an opportunity to witness the DMI model in action, large scale, for the first time. I would like to conduct research that will evaluate the success of the model's implementation and identify successes and areas for improvement for subsequent exercises.
- It is an opportunity to participate in furthering the mission of the Center. Solid participation from the Center will result in increased credibility and our being able to participate more richly in future exercises. At this scale, it will be a big step toward changing the way information is received, viewed, and used in order to effect outcome.

Contribution:
Having been working on the distributed medical intelligence project at multiple levels, and from many perspectives, I am interested in evaluating the flow of information throughout the Strong Angel exercise. Given the numerous participating organizations, and assumed tech vendors testing equipment, I would like to develop measures to evaluate the flow of information between participating organizations, between teams and between technologies. I would like to use the following measures to document the mission:

Ethnography - I would like to complete an ethnographic study of the entire event. CRNR could later use the final report as publicity material, web page content and proposal content for subsequent, similar exercises.

Interview - I would like to capture information about technologies, activities and communications by interviewing participants from the participating organizations and vendors as well as refugees. This paper could be valuable in revealing weaknesses, communication and technological breakdowns in this application of DMI as we prepare for subsequent exercises.

As we write a proposal for a National Library of Medicine information system, I clearly see how a very similar system could be a significant element among knowledge sources any DMI scenario. I would specifically like to consider this systems applicability in a Strong Angel like scenario, among existing technologies and information tools. My final paper would incorporate discussion of the experiences of participants as well as the pros and cons of our proposed NLM system in this scale environment.

Photography - If allowed, I would like to document the exercise and CRNR's participation photographically.

Equipment:
I prefer to travel light. I expect to bring my own 35mm camera, a hand held tape recorder, tapes, pens and paper.

why / contribution

humanitarian effort

disseminate the conceptual dmi framework detailing the possibilities of an integrated information knowledge matrix - not only within the framework of the the camp but potential scalability

test prototypes and concepts [developed both @ home and on the fly] prototypes would be working models [efficiency, reliability, usefulness, etc] and appearance models[human factors, speed/efficiency, etc]

storyboard hypothetical what if 's for dmi's future - wearables, holographic surgery assistant, abilities to see within the body or body overlays of internals, wound scanning/analysis, noninvasive sampling, laying hands glove, walkabout info display, potential pma devices, tracking ..... etc

...prototypes...?..!...

learn excellent first hand medium scale relief effort - ability to learn the interactions [or lack thereof] between people, between people and hardware, people and information ... also great input for NLM

get footage great exposure for us but also great fodder for future endeavors - stills video audio - great opp to stage prototype shots - real backround.

what i need to be there comp - not exclusive - but pref a mac [graphic app - continual optimization] therefore a printer
toolkit - modelling supplies foams epoxies etc..

hows it going to get there shipped or carry on [can be if shipping presents a problem]
